Nina Greipel is a 2004 WKU photojournalism graduate and this is her tenth consecutive year as the Workshops’ staff photographer.
She has labbied the 2000 and 2001 Workshops, has been a shooting participant in Cave City ('02) and editing participant in Bardstown ('03) and has only missed Workshops '04, '05, and 2006, while she was a staff photographer at the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
While photography is her passion she is currently working at her family's restaurant, as a social media manager, staff wrangler and baker of delicious desserts. But she hasn't put down her camera. She still freelances for various newspapers including The Courier-Journal and USA Today. But her favorite is wedding and portrait photography. Her work has been recognized by College Photographer of the Year, Kentucky Press Photographer Association, and National Press Photographers Association.
She believes that wedding photography has prepared her for making that large group photo at the end of Workshops every year. Perhaps it's the other way around. Either way, it always is like a family affair.
