Jo-Ann Huff Albers, a former Gannett newspaper editor and publisher (Michigan and Pennsylvania) became a fan of the Mountain Workshop in the fall of 1987 when she started work as head of the Western Kentucky University Department of Journalism. She started volunteering as a writing coach in 2004 after retiring as director of the WKU School of Journalism & Broadcasting, which she founded in 1999 and had it acknowledged as a Kentucky Program of Distinction. She had the pleasure of having many of the WKU PJ faculty and Mountain Workshops professionals in her Press Law and Ethics classes. A broadcasting graduate of Miami University, she earned an M.Ed. in Communication Arts at Xavier University in Cincinnati and worked 20 years at The Cincinnati Enquirer in several capacities until 1981. She enjoys flower gardening, knitting, reading on the radio for the blind, volunteer copy editing for the Woman’s City Club of Greater Cincinnati and editorial consulting for The Cincinnati Herald. Her latest effort is taking banjo lessons.
